Lasergame Schweiz in Zofingen is an arena of fog, light and lasers. On a Saturday evening, birthday parties, company teams, stag and hen parties and walk-in guests all crowd the counter at once, and every person has to be registered and have signed before firing the first shot.

Escape Rooms, trampoline parks and laser tag compete for the same Saturday evenings, and anyone who waits half an hour at the counter books elsewhere next time. Until 2026, check-in in Zofingen meant paper forms, ballpoint pens and a queue stretching to the door. For exactly this moment, Orbit is building the Register, a tool for the counter. The staff use it to manage groups and count the rounds, while the players check themselves in, either on the tablet at the counter or on their own phone. Two things had to work together: every person needs their own, signed check-in, even if an entire group arrives at once. And a code displayed on the public kiosk must not allow anyone to join another person's group.

• Three tracks: bookings, Arrowtag, Open • Group card with round counter • Self check-in with signature • QR code per group • Kiosk “Scan & play” • Playboard for the hall • History with date filter • Player list as PDF • Login with the Orbit account • Own database of the business

Three traces at the counter

The counter organizes the evening into three tracks. Bookings are the reserved laser groups, Arrowtag runs the same way, just without player names, and Open is available on Saturday evening for everyone who drops by spontaneously. In each track, the staff creates a group with «Create», including a name, a date, and a time window in fifteen-minute increments, and the player list of the new group opens immediately. Each group receives a card with its time window, a counter for the rounds, and the initials of everyone who has already registered. Above this are the numbers of the evening: active groups, checked-in players, rounds today, and completed groups. A tap on Plus, and the next round is counted.

Signature before the game

Anyone who enters the Arena accepts the terms and conditions and the disclaimer of liability. In the register, each person does this themselves: choose a round, enter a player name for the points, first and last name, date of birth, optionally an email address for news, then sign with a finger on the screen and tick the box for the terms and conditions, the full version of which is available at the counter. Without a signature, the system does not accept the registration. After that, «Welcome Aboard» appears on the screen, and a button opens the form for the next person on the same device.

The counter itself fits on the phone: The three tracks are arranged one below the other, and whoever is currently standing at the bar still counts the round with a tap.

The Code at the Kiosk

Each group card has its own QR code. Whoever scans it lands directly in the form of that group on their own phone and can sign up while the others are still standing at the counter. The code carries no guessable identifier, but a random key that only the server resolves into the group; a wrong or guessed code leads to a dead end. For guests without a reservation, a general code, «Scan & play», is posted at the kiosk, which leads to the ongoing rounds. This way, the queue is distributed across twenty phones instead of a clipboard.

Playboard and History

For the hall there is the Playboard. On the large screen it displays every active group as a card with their player names and calculates from the clock and the time window whether they are ready, playing or extending. If nothing is running, it says «Come to the bar and join in.»

The counter and playboard always show only the current day. Everything completed moves to the History, filterable by date, with details, PDF and «Activate», which brings a group back to the counter with one click. The player list of each group prints as a sheet with group, date, time, mode, rounds and all signatures.

One account for everything

Since September 2026, the Theke no longer has its own password. Staff log in with their Orbit account, and only Lasergame accounts with the Admin or Staff role can access it. The role is read continuously: anyone who is blocked loses access without any intervention at the Theke. Groups and entries have since been stored in the business's own database, separated from everything else.

On duty every evening

The register is running in production and is the daily tool at the counter, from the first children's birthday party in the afternoon to the last open round at night. It was deliberately kept lean in the planning: A group for tomorrow only appears on their day. And when it gets dark in the same hall, the horror event Basement of Horror takes over with its own appearance.
