Bombadille: Public Impact Boutique. Jon Baumann handled dossiers on the staff of Federal Councillor Schneider-Ammann. Today he brings that experience from Langenthal to organisations, municipalities and projects in the public sector.

In Switzerland, public affairs is a field of big firms. Anyone who wants to connect with politics and government thinks of agencies such as Farner or furrerhugi, with large teams in Bern and Zürich. Bombadille goes the other way: a boutique with a single face, rooted in the region and with references ranging from the Swiss Confederation to Helvetia and the Oberaargau region. For this promise to hold from the very first glance, the young company needs a brand that is personal and yet looks as serious as the big names, in a world where every word is weighed with care. In March 2026 the commission goes to Orbit: a brand concept with a personal touch, a logo for every use, an appearance at the 2026 Langenthal trade fair and the design prototype of the landing page.

• Brand concept with a personal touch • A logo for every use • Colours Peacock, Willow, Goldberry • Concept for the Langenthal trade fair • Wireframe and design prototype • Three fields on one screen • References as a ticker • Built for the phone

A name from the Old Forest

The brand is inspired by Tom Bombadil, the character from Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" who belongs to no one in the Old Forest and helps everyone. Independent, yet there for everyone: that is exactly what a consultancy mediating between administration, politics and business promises. Two of the three colours take their names from the same story, Goldberry for the gold and Willow for the green, plus Peacock for the petrol. The logo, a B in a ring with a small point, looks as assured on the letterhead as on the trade fair stand.

Client first, consulting second

Bombadille works in three fields: Public Affairs, Public Operations and Public Projects. Each gets a sentence in two parts, and the first always belongs to the client: "Your concerns are heard and understood. We translate and convince." "Your organisation moves forward. We steer and row." "Your idea becomes reality. We design and deliver." Three promises a mayor understands as well as a corporation.

Colour instead of a menu

In the prototype, you need no menu to understand what is on offer. As you scroll, the first screen changes colour, from white to Peacock, Willow and Goldberry, and with each colour a field appears with its sentence. Then Jon Baumann steps into the picture, in a portrait in front of a coloured curtain. In consulting you buy a person, and the page introduces him as soon as it is clear what he stands for. On the phone the same sequence runs in portrait format.

Trust at a glance

In the public sector, what counts is who has already worked with whom. That is why the references run across the page as a strip, each logo with the field Bombadille worked in: public affairs and communication for Helvetia, operations in the General Secretariat of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, plus regional development, location marketing, project financing and organisational development for municipalities, associations, sites and even esports. One dot per reference shows how many more follow.

From brand to site

In June 2026 the commission is complete: brand, logo, colours and the prototype of the landing page. On that basis bombadille.ch goes online, with the light first screen, Jon Baumann's portrait, the references as a ticker and the logo at the end. Bombadille has since sharpened the first sentence: "We make ideas in the public sector. Workable." Building a brand for a boutique means making a person visible without disguising him. At Bombadille, that job now falls to three colours from an old forest.
